Once a one-off taproom-only offering, Founders fans have been looking forward to release of Frangelic Mountain Brown since it was confirmed to be next up in the Backstage Series, which includes Blushing Monk, CBS, and Better Half.

Frangelic Mountain Brown (9% ABV) is brewed with hazelnut coffees, giving it “distinct aromatics with sweet and nutty flavors beautifully balanced.” It's the brewery’s first brown ale and first bottled offering brewed with hazelnut coffees.

Though most will have to wait until July 2nd when it's officially released to the public, some lucky shoppers in Charleston, SC have already found it on shelves, per this BA thread. Though I imagine Founders didn't sanction this early release, they'll probably be pleased with the first review on BA...

“If you're looking for perfection in a brown ale, this is the closest I've found... This is absolutely superb... A must try for sure.”

Naturally, a few Frangelic Mountain Brown beer auctions are already on eBay.

Update June 18, 2012: Looks like two of these have already sold for $45.

If there was ever a beer that caused over-zealous asshats beer geeks to follow around delivery trucks, it's the impeccable Founders KBS, which was released on Saturday at the Founders Taproom and will be making its way though distribution shortly.

“Makes your taste buds squeal with delight.”

Per the Founders website, KBS is brewed with a “massive amount” of coffee and chocolates, then cave-aged in oak bourbon barrels for an entire year. And apparently Founders knows a thing or two about barrel aging — as of this writing, KBS is bestowed with essentially perfect ratings on both BA and RB.

Naturally, not everyone who picked up a case half case at the KBS release is planning to drink them all. There's a handful already available on eBay.

Anticipation has been building since the 2011 version of Goose Island's acclaimed Bourbon County Coffee Stout came off the bottling line a few weeks ago. Well they've made their way through distribution and are being quickly snapped up from stores.

The 2011 Bourbon County Coffee Stout features Intelligentsia Anjilanaka coffee beans from Bolivia and has already garnered one perfect review on Beer Advocate.

“ HOLY FUCK SHIT BATMAN! They did it again! Best. Beer. Ever. Without a doubt.”

While some will be enjoyed them fresh, and some will get tucked into the cellars, one has found its way straight to eBay. The seller has started the bidding at $0.01 on a seven-day beer auction, so it should be interesting to see where this one ends up. NOTE: That listing is gone, but plenty more below.

2012 Dogfish Head Aprihop Poster by Tara McPherson

Yesterday Dogfish Head announced that NY-based pop surrealist Tara McPherson will be the artist behind the brewery's 2012 seasonal posters.

McPherson, who follows in the footsteps of Dogfish Head poster artists Marq Spusta and Dave Plunkert, is also the artist behind the labels for Dogfish Head's Fort and Chateau Jiahu.

“I just think her artwork looks yummy. It's bright and playful and adventurous and totally unique — all ideals we aspire to at Dogfish.”

For 2012 you can look forward to Tara's signature style portrait paintings on seasonal Dogfish Head posters for Aprihop (pictured), Festina Peche, Punkin Ale and Chicory Stout.

The prints will be available at the Dogfish Head online store as well as the Dogfish Head brewery in Milton, Del., and brewpub in Rehoboth Beach, Del.

Yesterday Goose Island teased Bourbon County Stout and coffee lovers everywhere with some incredible beer-porn — a photo of the 2011 Goose Island Bourbon County Coffee Stout coming off the bottling line.

After a one-year hiatus, this is one release that will almost certainly live up to the hype. To date the beer has a perfect 100 rating on Beer Advocate (rAvg: 4.52) and a near perfect 100/99 on Rate Beer.

Notably, this year's offering will feature Intelligentsia Anjilanaka coffee beans from Bolivia whereas the 2010 version used the syrupy and sweet Black Cat Espresso Beans.

“Silky and smooth on the palate, this year's Anjilanaka brings a balanced and steady character. White grape, honey and apple skin notes give dimension without sacrificing delicacy. Burnt caramel and hazelnut notes mark the finish.”

Per the Goose Island Facebook post the Bourbon County Coffee Stout will “take some time to go through our wholesale channels before it hits retail shelves.” And you know once that happens, they'll be all over eBay for astronomical prices.

Update January 24, 2012: According to a recent BA post from Goose Island Brand Director Adam Lilly, “the first cases have begun leaving the warehouse” and “you can expect to start seeing deliveries from wholesalers to retailers in the next couple days through the next couple of weeks.”
